Abstract:

The present study was carried out to investigate the preparation of chitosan-Ag nanocomposite filmfor food packaging. Since chitosan is a suitable alternative to produce packaging films due to favorablefactors such as biodegradability and abundance in the world, therefore in this study, it was preparedchitosan-Ag nanocomposite with antibacterial properties for food packaging by combining chitosan andAg nanoparticles. The produced nanocomposite was characterized by XRD and FESEM. Antibacterialactivity of the produced film was studied at different concentrations of silver nitrate against Escherichiacoli and Staphylococcus aureus. The results showed high antibacterial activity in chitosan-Ag chitosan. Itwas also found that with an increase in the concentration of Ag nanoparticles in the nanocomposite to0.03, the ant antibacterial effects increased and then remained constant.

preparation and characterization of chitosan/clay biodegradable nanocomposite for food packaging application

a bionanocomposite film was developed by nanoclay incorporation to chitosan films, using a solution casting method and the effects of nanoclay concentration (0.5, 1.0, and 3% w/w) on the physical and mechanical properties of the chitosan films were evaluated. moreover, x-ray diffraction (xrd), scanning electron microscopy, and fourier transform infrared spectra (ftir) were used for studying mic...

Preparation and Rheological Property Evaluation of LDPE/ Zinc Oxide Nanocomposite Films for Food Packaging Application

Nowadays, nanoscale innovations in the forms of pathogen detection, active packaging, antimicrobial packaging and barrier formation are poised to elevate food packaging to new heights. Antimicrobial nanocomposite LDPE films containing ZnO nanoparticles at different concentrations (e.g. 1%, 3%, 5%  and 3%  nano-ZnO pulse 10% polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride (PE-g-MA), w/w pure LDPE), were p...

Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanocomposite as a Food Packaging

Today nanopackaging has been applied in order to increase the quality and safety of foods. In this study the possibility of using silver nanocomposite as food packaging is investigated. Silver nanoparticles were prepared by chemical reduction and to approve the presence of silver nanoparticles, UV-VS spectroscopy was used. The mentioned test showed the formation of silver nanoparticles by exhib...

Preparation and characterization of biocomposite film based on chitosan and kombucha tea as active food packaging.

An active film composed of chitosan and kombucha tea (KT) was successfully prepared using the solvent casting technique. The effect of incorporation of KT at the levels 1%-3% w/w on the physical and functional properties of chitosan film was investigated. The antimicrobial activity of chitosan/KT film against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus was evaluated using agar diffusion test, an...
